Four quick ink sketches of seascapes inspired by my visits to Kent and Norfolk.
Materials needed; watercolour paper, low tack masking tape, black india ink, candle wax, large watercolour brush, rigger brush no 4, waterpots, water and paper towel
To Do;
Divide up the paper into four different rectangles with the masking tape.
Add a candle wax drawing of simple seascape shapes i.e. water, sky etc (which you won't see, but that's part of the fun)
Dilute some of the ink into pots. You need it neat, a midtone and a weak ink
Just paint freely, think of your seascape ! or use a picture as reference.
Work quickly, it's best as you won't get bogged down with details.
Use dark and light ink. India ink layers up really well.
Stop painting when it feels right.
Leave to dry. Peel off the tape.
Now you have four small paintings. You might not like them all, but one often stands out.
Most of all have fun and don't worry about mistakes.
Paint more and more !!!
