Using the Studio H 254e to turn the 223e keyboard into a performance mixer

The toggle buttons on the 223e can be used to dramatically introduce and remove melody and rhythm, and are extremely responsive, when patched through the 254e.
Here, the toggle switches affect the velocities on the 292e for the rhythm section. Note that you CANNOT patch the toggle switches directly into the 292e velocities. This is because when the toggle switches are at 0V, the velocities default to being 100% open (just as if they are unpatched). You need the offset. This could theoretically be achieved with the 257e or 256e.
The 254e will also pass pulses. The pulses for the melody pass through the 254e. The left most toggle switch either allows or blocks all pulses. I have read that only the 254e, due to its analogue nature. This is in some ways superior to using a true mixer, as the tail of your note will still ring out.
Note that no stand alone mixing module or mixer was used, I am just modulating the velocities on the 292e or allowing, blocking pulses to the 281e.
