WHAT THE RISK COLUMN ACTUALLY DOES
Every time the board loads, every open job is rescheduled against real machine capacity and the shop calendar. Where a job's last operation lands, compared to its promise date, decides the color. Nobody sets it. Three states: On track (more than two days of margin), Watch (two days or less), Late (past the promise, with the day count). It isn't an optimizer — it's a schedule you can follow by hand and argue with, and every late job says why: "waiting on Op 20 · Lathe-1 busy until Thursday."

Describe a job that doesn't exist yet — promise date, quantity, each operation. ShopTrace runs the same scheduler twice, with and without it, and shows only what moved. Nothing is saved. Say no, and it was never written down.
