Описание: Syed Nasir from Yermal, Udupi district, is the fourth generation Nagaswara player who plays mainly in the rituals for the deities of Tulunadu (Dakshina Kannada and Udupi districts of Karnataka and Kasargod district in Kerala). His ancestors settled in Yermal in the early 1800s when the local king gave them the land. At present, there are a few Muslim families in Yermal, Muloor, and Shirva, who are professional musicians and perform for local rituals of the Hindu and Jain communities.

The migration and settlement of diverse communities from various regions of the subcontinent into Tulunadu occurred over distinct historical periods, characterized by diverse motivations. It is argued that the influential rulers and administrators of Tulunadu extended invitations to diverse communities, resulting in the influx of people from distant lands. These invitations were driven by a complex interplay of political, religious, economic, and cultural factors. Four significant communities, including the Brahmins, Jain administrators, Muslim traders, and Christian missionaries, played crucial roles in shaping the intricate dynamics of cultural interactions within the traditional Tulu society.

As these intercultural exchanges continued to deepen their influence on the cultural landscape of Tulunadu, the region’s indigenous customs, ritualistic practices, social norms, and cultural activities evolved over time. Simultaneously, the traditional practices of the communities that settled in Tulunadu were influenced by the local practices, resulting in a convergence of traditions and beliefs.

ಕರ್ನಾಟಕದ ದಕ್ಷಿಣ ಕನ್ನಡ ಮತ್ತು ಉಡುಪಿ ಜಿಲ್ಲೆಗಳು ಹಾಗೂ ಕೇರಳದ ಕಾಸರಗೋಡು ಜಿಲ್ಲೆಯನ್ನು ಒಳಗೊಂಡ ತುಳುನಾಡಿನ ದೇವತೆಗಳ ವಿಧಿವಿಧಾನಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಮುಖ್ಯವಾಗಿ ವಾದನೆ ಮಾಡುವ
ನಾಲ್ಕನೇ ತಲೆಮಾರದ ನಾಗಸ್ವರ ವಾದಕರಾದ ಎರಮಾಳ್ (ಉಡುಪಿ ಜಿಲ್ಲೆ) ನ ಸಯ್ಯದ್ ನಾಸೀರ್ ಅವರು. 1800ರ ದಶಕದ ಆರಂಭದಲ್ಲಿ ಸ್ಥಳೀಯ ರಾಜನು ಭೂಮಿ ನೀಡಿದಾಗ ಅವರ ಪೂರ್ವಜರು ಎರಮಾಳಿನಲ್ಲಿ ವಾಸವನ್ನು ಸ್ಥಾಪಿಸಿದರು.
ಪ್ರಸ್ತುತ, ಎರಮಾಲ್, ಮೂಲೂರು ಮತ್ತು ಶಿರ್ವಾ ಪ್ರದೇಶಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಕೆಲವು ಮುಸ್ಲಿಂ ಕುಟುಂಬಗಳು ವೃತ್ತಿಪರ ಸಂಗೀತಕಾರರಾಗಿದ್ದು, ಹಿಂದೂ ಹಾಗೂ ಜೈನ ಸಮುದಾಯಗಳ ಸ್ಥಳೀಯ ವಿಧಿವಿಧಾನಗಳಲ್ಲಿ
ಸಂಗೀತವನ್ನು ನಿಭಾಯಿಸುತ್ತಿದ್ದಾರೆ.

ಉಪಖಂಡದ ವಿವಿಧ ಭಾಗಗಳಿಂದ ವಿವಿಧ ಸಮುದಾಯಗಳ ತುಳುನಾಡಿಗೆ ವಲಸೆ ಮತ್ತು ವಾಸಸ್ಥಾನ ಸ್ಥಾಪನೆ ವಿಭಿನ್ನ ಐತಿಹಾಸಿಕ ಅವಧಿಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಸಂಭವಿಸಿತು, ಮತ್ತು ಇದರ ಹಿಂದೆ ವಿವಿಧ ಪ್ರೇರಣೆಗಳು ಕೆಲಸ ಮಾಡಿದ್ದವು. ತುಳುನಾಡಿನ ಪ್ರಭಾವಶಾಲಿ ಆಡಳಿತಗಾರರು ವಿಭಿನ್ನ ಸಮುದಾಯಗಳನ್ನು ಆಹ್ವಾನಿಸಿದ್ದರು ಎಂದು ವಾದಿಸಲಾಗಿದೆ, ಇದರಿಂದ ದೂರದ ಜನರ ಪ್ರವೇಶವಾಯಿತು. ಈ ಆಹ್ವಾನಗಳಿಗೆ ರಾಜಕೀಯ, ಧಾರ್ಮಿಕ, ಆರ್ಥಿಕ ಮತ್ತು ಸಾಂಸ್ಕೃತಿಕ ಅಂಶಗಳ ಸಂಕೀರ್ಣ ಸಂಯೋಜನೆ ಕಾರಣವಾಗಿದೆ. ಬ್ರಾಹ್ಮಣರು, ಜೈನ ಆಡಳಿತಗಾರರು, ಮುಸ್ಲಿಂ ವ್ಯಾಪಾರಿಗಳು ಮತ್ತು ಕ್ರಿಶ್ಚಿಯನ್ ಮಿಷನರಿಗಳು ಸೇರಿದಂತೆ ನಾಲ್ಕು ಮಹತ್ವದ ಸಮುದಾಯಗಳು ಸಾಂಪ್ರದಾಯಿಕ ತುಳು ಸಮಾಜದೊಳಗಿನ ಸಾಂಸ್ಕೃತಿಕ ಸಂವಹನಗಳ ಸಂಕೀರ್ಣ ಚಲನಶೀಲತೆಯನ್ನು ರೂಪಿಸುವಲ್ಲಿ ನಿರ್ಣಾಯಕ ಪಾತ್ರ ವಹಿಸಿವೆ.

ಇಂತಾ ಸಾಂಸ್ಕೃತಿಕ ಸಂವಹನಗಳು ತುಳುನಾಡಿನ ಸಾಂಸ್ಕೃತಿಕ ಭೂದೃಶ್ಯದಲ್ಲಿ ತಮ್ಮ ಪ್ರಭಾವವನ್ನು ಗಾಢಗೊಳಿಸುತ್ತಿರುವಾಗ, ಈ ಪ್ರದೇಶದ ಸ್ಥಳೀಯ ಸಂಪ್ರದಾಯಗಳು, ವಿಧಿವಿಧಾನಗಳು, ಸಾಮಾಜಿಕ ನಿಬಂಧನೆಗಳು ಮತ್ತು ಸಾಂಸ್ಕೃತಿಕ ಚಟುವಟಿಕೆಗಳು ಕಾಲಾನಂತರದಲ್ಲಿ ಅಭಿವೃದ್ಧಿ ಪಡೆದವು. ಅದೇ ಸಮಯದಲ್ಲಿ, ತುಳುನಾಡಿಗೆ ವಾಸಸ್ಥಾನ ನೀಡಿದ್ದ ಸಮುದಾಯಗಳ ಪರಂಪರೆಯ ಪ್ರಥಮಿಕ ಪದ್ಧತಿಗಳು ಸ್ಥಳೀಯ ಪದ್ಧತಿಗಳಿಂದ ಪ್ರಭಾವಿತಗೊಂಡು ಪರಂಪರೆ ಮತ್ತು ನಂಬಿಕೆಗಳ ಏಕತೆ ನಿರ್ಮಾಣವಾಯಿತು.
