In a significant escalation of the 2026 West Asia war, the United Arab Emirates has moved into a "State of Defence" to counter unprovoked Iranian aggression. Today, March 9, UAE air defences and fighter jets successfully intercepted 17 out of 18 drones and 12 out of 15 ballistic missiles launched toward Abu Dhabi and Dubai. While the Ministry of Defence affirmed that most threats were destroyed mid-air, falling debris caused a major fire in Fujairah's oil district and shrapnel damage in residential areas. With over 1,440 drones launched at the UAE since the conflict began on February 28, the government has vowed to "firmly confront" any attempts to destabilize state security.
