Hong Kong's New Security Law: Assessing Article 23

Описание: Last month, Hong Kong’s chief executive John Lee announced plans to pass the city’s own security law, a requirement of Article 23 of its constitution that has on previous occasions been blocked by public resistance. The law will impose penalties for a broad range of offenses deemed to contravene national security, including treason, sedition, espionage, and insurrection, and complement broader security legislation Beijing imposed on the city in 2020.
