How can we go about improving neck function after a long day hunched over a computer? 🖥️
First things first...
I need to make sure I am looking at how my neck and head are relating to my torso.
I ALSO need to look at how my shoulder is functioning, specifically how it rotates.
Similarly, if I want to improve shoulder function, I should work upstream on the neck.
Because of this, tapping into the traps is a great way to begin restoring neck functionality.
While they would be terrible for boiling down into a soup (there is A LOT of collagen invested in the musculature that holds our head up), the traps do a lot to support our necks during the day (particularly when we are leaning over and looking a computer screen) so they can naturally become quite stiff.
Bringing our focus on the musculature that is coming right into the neck and moving right around the base of the neck can be an efficient way to restore necessary function. 💪
