‘피아노의 시인’이라 불리는 프레데리크 쇼팽(F. Chopin 1810~1849)은 피아노를 단순한 악기가 아닌, 자신의 마음과 생각을 전하는 ‘두 번째 목소리’로 여겼다.
‘야상곡’(Nocturne, 녹턴)은 “밤의 음악”이라는 뜻으로, 밤의 평온함과 고즈넉한 분위기를 담은 장르이다. 특히 쇼팽의 녹턴은 풍부한 서정성과 시적인 상상력, 그리고 마치 사람이 노래하는 듯한 부드럽고 유려한 선율이 특징으로, 그의 생애 동안 총 21곡의 녹턴을 남겼다. 그 중에서도 녹턴 Op. 48, No.1 (1841)은 원숙기에 탄생한 작품으로, 곡 전체에 깊은 감정과 장중한 분위기를 자아낸다.
이 곡은 녹턴의 전통적인 A-B-A' 형식을 기반으로 하며, 서정적인 도입부(A)에서 시작해, 장엄하고 극적인 중간부(B), 더욱 깊어진 애수의 감정으로 재현(A')되는 구조를 갖고 있다.

Frédéric Chopin (1810–1849), often referred to as the “Poet of the Piano,” viewed the instrument not simply as a tool for making music, but as a “second voice” through which he could express his deepest thoughts and emotions.

The nocturne—meaning “music of the night”—is a genre that captures the serenity and stillness of the evening hours. Chopin’s nocturnes are especially celebrated for their rich lyricism, poetic imagination, and smooth, vocal-like melodies that seem to sing with human expression. Throughout his lifetime, he composed a total of 21 nocturnes. Among them, the Nocturne in C minor, Op. 48, No. 1 (1841) stands out as a work of maturity, filled with profound emotion and a sense of solemn grandeur.

This piece follows the traditional A–B–A′ structure: it opens with a lyrical first section (A), transitions into a majestic and dramatic middle passage (B), and returns in the recapitulation (A′) with a deepened sense of melancholy.
