Ballater is a beautiful village with Victorian heritage located on the banks of the River Dee in the Cairngorms National Park. It is surrounded by glorious countryside and is a great centre for outdoor enthusiasts. There are numerous way marked walks to suit all abilities and Ballater is the start (or finish) of the Deeside Way - a 41 mile trail to Aberdeen using the trackbed of the former railway. As it is also the nearest town to Balmoral, many of the shops and even the local garage display the Royal Warrant.
I was lucky to have glorious weather during my visit and this short video gives you a taster of what you can see in and around Ballater.
