We take a POV ride on the 6x escalators that link the Wirral Line to the Ticket hall at Liverpool Central Merseyrail station. These are Schindler 9700 escalators installed in around 2017. Sadly, they replaced the original OTIS escalators like the ones you’ve seen at Lime Street HERE; • Liverpool, England. 4x 1970’s OTIS Escalat...
They do run nicely though, at least in this station. A similar set at Moorfields were completely broken with staff telling me they’d been out for months which isn’t good considering how new the are. To the Northern Line (this station is an interchange) there are some KONE escalators - again they’re replacements of the OTIS originals done in about 2013. Kone now have the contract to replace the last 14 OTIS ones that remained on my visit (some of which hadn’t run for a while).
