This is a review of the 2024 4K UHD Blu-ray release of Alfred Hitchcock's 1959 masterpiece 'North By Northwest' starring Cary Grant, Eva Marie Saint, James Mason and Martin Landau. The vital, most important factor when considering the beautiful image quality of this disc is that North By Northwest was one of Hitchcock's VistaVision productions. This is the reason for the clarity of the image but added to that is the dye-transfer Technicolor process that was applied to it after the shoot. This unique colour palette has been replicated on this 4K disc and that superior colour combined with the VistaVision clarity is why the end product is so good. It is not 'the transfer' although, clearly, a very capable technician or technicians were responsible for the grading and mastering.
