ਬੰਦੀ ਛੋੜ ਦਿਵਸ ਕਿਉਂ ਮਨਾਇਆ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ?

ਪੰਜਵੇਂ ਪਾਤਸ਼ਾਹ ਸ੍ਰੀ ਗੁਰੂ ਅਰਜਨ ਦੇਵ ਜੀ ਦੀ ਸ਼ਹਾਦਤ ਨੇ ਸਿੱਖ ਇਤਿਹਾਸ ਵਿੱਚ ਸ਼ਾਂਤੀ ਤੇ ਆਤਮ ਬਲਿਦਾਨ ਦਾ ਸੰਦੇਸ਼ ਦੇ ਕੇ ਕ੍ਰਾਂਤੀਕਾਰੀ ਮੋੜ ਲਿਆ। ਇਸ ਤੋਂ ਬਾਅਦ ਛੇਵੇਂ ਪਾਤਸ਼ਾਹ ਸ੍ਰੀ ਗੁਰੂ ਹਰਿਗੋਬਿੰਦ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਜੀ ਨੇ ਮੀਰੀ ਤੇ ਪੀਰੀ ਦੀ ਸੰਸਕਾਰਕ ਪ੍ਰੰਪਰਾ ਦੀ ਸ਼ੁਰੂਆਤ ਕੀਤੀ, ਜਿਸ ਵਿੱਚ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੇ ਮੈਦਾਨੀ ਤੇ ਰੂਹਾਨੀ ਸੱਤਾ ਨੂੰ ਸੰਕੇਤ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲੀਆਂ ਦੋ ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾਨਾਂ ਧਾਰਨ ਕੀਤੀਆਂ ਅਤੇ ਸਿੱਖਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਆਤਮਰੱਖਿਆ ਲਈ ਤਿਆਰ ਕੀਤਾ।

ਸ੍ਰੀ ਅਕਾਲ ਤਖ਼ਤ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਦੀ ਸਿਰਜਣਾ ਕਰਕੇ, ਗੁਰੂ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਨੇ ਸਿੱਖਾਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਬੀਰ ਰਸ ਅਤੇ ਅਣਖ ਦਾ ਜਾਗਰੂਕ ਪ੍ਰਵਾਹ ਸ਼ੁਰੂ ਕੀਤਾ। ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੇ ਸਿੱਖਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਅਰਦਾਸ, ਕੀਰਤਨ ਤੇ ਸਤਿਸੰਗ ਦੇ ਨਾਲ ਬੀਰ ਰਸੀ ਵਾਰਾਂ ਦਾ ਗਾਇਨ ਕਰਵਾਉਣ ਦੀ ਪ੍ਰੰਪਰਾ ਸਥਾਪਿਤ ਕੀਤੀ। ਇਸ ਨਾਲ ਸਿੱਖ ਸੰਗਤਾਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਨਿਯਮਤ ਤੌਰ ਤੇ ਚੰਗੇ ਘੋੜੇ ਤੇ ਸ਼ਸਤਰ ਲਿਆਉਣ ਅਤੇ ਜੰਗ ਦੀ ਸਿਖਲਾਈ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਕਰਨ ਦਾ ਪ੍ਰਵਾਹ ਬਣਿਆ।

ਗੁਰੂ ਹਰਿਗੋਬਿੰਦ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਜੀ ਨੂੰ ਗਵਾਲੀਅਰ ਦੇ ਕਿਲ੍ਹੇ ਵਿੱਚ ਬੰਦੀ ਬਣਾਇਆ ਗਿਆ। ਉਸ ਦੌਰਾਨ ਜਦੋਂ ਬਾਦਸ਼ਾਹ ਜਹਾਂਗੀਰ ਨੇ ਆਪਣੀ ਬੀਮਾਰੀ ਨੂੰ ਸੱਚੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਕੈਦ ਨਾਲ ਜੋੜਿਆ, ਤਾਂ ਉਸ ਨੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਜੀ ਨੂੰ ਰਿਹਾ ਕਰਨ ਦਾ ਆਦੇਸ਼ ਦਿੱਤਾ। ਪਰ ਗੁਰੂ ਜੀ ਨੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਨਾਲ ਬੰਦੀ 52 ਰਾਜਿਆਂ ਦੀ ਰਿਹਾਈ ਦੀ ਮੰਗ ਰੱਖੀ। ਇਹ ਮੰਗ ਕਬੂਲ ਕਰਨ ਲਈ, ਗੁਰੂ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਨੇ ਇੱਕ ਵਿਸ਼ੇਸ਼ 52 ਕਲੀਆਂ ਵਾਲਾ ਕੁੜਤਾ ਪਹਿਨਿਆ, ਜੋ ਹਰ ਰਾਜੇ ਨੂੰ ਬਾਹਰ ਜਾਣ ਵਿੱਚ ਸਹਾਇਕ ਬਣਿਆ। ਇਸ ਦਿਨ ਦੀ ਯਾਦਗਾਰ ਵਿਚ ਸਿੱਖਾਂ ਵੱਲੋਂ "ਬੰਦੀ ਛੋੜ ਦਿਵਸ" ਮਨਾਇਆ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਜੋ ਸੱਚੇ ਮੌਲਿਕ ਸੰਦੇਸ਼ ਅਤੇ ਹੰਸਲਦਾਰ ਪ੍ਰਤੀਕ ਦਾ ਪ੍ਰਤੀਕ ਹੈ।

ਦੋ ਤਲਵਾਰਾਂ ਬੱਧੀਆਂ, ਇੱਕ ਮੀਰੀ ਦੀ ਇੱਕ ਪੀਰੀ ਦੀ।
ਇੱਕ ਅਜ਼ਮਤ ਦੀ,ਇਕ ਰਾਜ ਦੀ, ਇਕ ਰਾਖੀ ਕਰੇ ਵਜ਼ੀਰੀ ਦੀ।

ਪੰਜਿ ਪਿਆਲੇ ਪੰਜ ਪੀਰ ਛਠਮੁ ਪੀਰੁ ਬੈਠਾ ਗੁਰੁ ਭਾਰੀ ॥ ਅਰਜਨ ਕਾਇਆ ਪਲਟਿਕੈ ਮੂਰਤਿ ਹਰਿਗੋਬਿੰਦ ਸਵਾਰੀ ॥

ਚੱਲੀ ਪੀੜੀ ਸੋਢੀਆਂ ਰੂਪ ਦਿਖਾਵਣ ਵਾਰੋ ਵਾਰੀ ॥
ਦੱਲ ਭੰਜਨ ਗੁਰ ਸੂਰਮਾ ਵੱਡ ਯੋਧਾ ਬਹੁ ਪਰਉਪਕਾਰੀ ॥
