In January 1941, Commander Borys Karnicki and his crew took command of the Polish Navy submarine ORP Sokół after it was handed over from the British as part of the Anglo-Polish alliance. Formerly HMS Urchin, ORP Sokół patrolled the Bay of Biscay off Brest, France, defending the seas and showcasing the courage of the Polish Navy in exile during World War II.
