Day 5 on the Pieterpad going North! This 23km hike from Swalmen to Venlo was a special one—I spent half the route walking directly on the Dutch-German border, crossing it multiple times. The journey followed the Swalm river, passed through forests, and led me to my 100km milestone on the trail! Later, a group of curious cows followed me through a meadow (a bit too close for comfort). One of the best parts? I could simply take the train back to the starting point, making this a super convenient hike. The adventure ended in Venlo, where I wrapped up with an epilogue about the beanie I lost along the way. A grey day with some sunshine peeking through, but a fantastic journey!
