Living in a RURAL VILLAGE in Guilin, China

Описание: Growing up a Kiwi in NZ but born in China it has always been one of Peter's dreams to go back to the country of his birth and stay in a remote village nestled among spectacular mountains.

We took a high speed bullet train from Guangzhou to Guilin and got to turn Peter's childhood dream into reality by going to an old Chinese fishing-farming village from the Qing dynasty and staying there for 10 nights. Peter found an ancient Qing dynasty "lao jia" (old home) accommodation which was where we stayed at. It's located in a small village in rural Guilin, China with a population of around only 300 people.

It's a couple hours drive to get to the village. There is only one ferry to this rural Guilin village and one ferry back out. We mingled with locals, enjoyed the scenic beauty, peacefulness and all the simple everyday things in life. As a Chinese born Kiwi growing up with Western culture this has been a massive thing Peter always wanted to do so since quitting our jobs to travel the world. It's amazing to finally turn a childhood dream like this into reality and check a number of items off both our bucket lists.

Special thanks to Hai Bo for being a wonderful caretaker during our stay and the rest of the team too like Mao sifu delivering us soy bean milk daily and inviting us to his home, Xiaomo for cooking us the delicious vegetarian meals everyday and also to Ayi for the homemade baozi and keeping our place clean too.
