Directed by Tom Hanks, this episode focuses on Richard Winters (Damian Lewis) as he leads Easy Company in a crucial battle that tests both his leadership and his conscience, as well as his time in Paris.
Winters’ character continues to impress me. His calm confidence and care for his men make him one of the most admirable leaders I’ve ever seen on screen. The battle at the crossroads was brilliantly executed, full of tension and strategy. Seeing how much the loss of even one man affected him said so much about who he is. His quiet moments in Paris, his reflection on the young German soldier, and the emotional weight he carries were beautifully portrayed. The editing and cinematography here were outstanding. Tom Hanks also did a great job directing this one.
