LIVE: Drone Attack Hits Fujairah Port After US Strikes on Iran’s Kharg Island

The incident comes hours after the United States struck Iran’s Kharg Island, targeting military and strategic oil facilities. Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi suggested the Fujairah attack was retaliation for the Kharg Island strikes, claiming U.S. strikes were launched from neighboring territories including the UAE — a claim denied by senior UAE officials.

Fujairah handles about 1 million barrels per day of Murban crude, roughly 1% of global oil demand. Two columns of smoke were seen rising from the terminal, and one Jordanian citizen was lightly injured as authorities worked to extinguish the fire.

The incident adds further strain on global oil markets already impacted by the escalating US-Iran conflict and rising tensions in the Strait of Hormuz region.
