In this episode...

During our kitchen renovation, we were trying to figure out how we should finish the wall on the refrigerator side. The wall opposite from it is a full tile backsplash all the way to the ceiling. At first, we were going to do a full tile wall on this side, but decided it would be too laborious and too much tile. We ended up coming across these fluted wall panels at Lowe's and thought we would give them a try. The style of the panels works well with the style we were trying to achieve in our kitchen renovation, and they provided another texture to the room to make it more visually interesting.

The installation process went smoothly. The MDF material was super easy to cut. It did produce a pretty gross black dust everywhere...probably best to wear a mask when cutting them. I'm a little worried about the durability of the panels and how they will hold up in our kitchen if they are ever exposed to water. I did a test by leaving them outside in the rain and elements for a few days, and it didn't seem like they degraded much at all!

Next time, I'll probably use a natural wood product instead of this (thinking it will have a longer lifespan), but for now, this was a great choice for us! It was much easier to install than tile, and it is more interesting than a painted wall.
