Today we take a short stroll through Broken Head. An area approximately 5km south of the town of Byron Bay. Its a large coastal nature reserve area with a small village and camping ground.
Broken Head Nature Reserve is co-managed by National Parks and the Arakwal People, acknowledging the cultural significance of this land to Aboriginal People. Three Sisters, previously known as Cocked Hat Rocks, is an important cultural site representing a story about a young First Nations woman who was caught in a strong current when swimming in this area. When her sister attempted to save her, they both drowned and were transformed into stone.
Broken Head today is also now known as a celebrity location suitable for idol (idle) worship. Either way, its a beautiful spring day for a walk to the beach.
