Education should empower—not erase—identity.
In this advocacy pitch, I highlight the realities faced by Indigenous Peoples (IP) learners in the Philippines and call for a stronger, more responsive Indigenous Peoples Education (IPEd) Framework.
Many Indigenous children enter school full of hope, only to encounter lessons that do not reflect their language, culture, or lived experiences. While the IPEd Program has made important strides, persistent challenges remain—limited contextualized materials, insufficient teacher preparation, delayed funding, and learning environments that do not fully support Indigenous learners.
This video advocates for meaningful reforms centered on:
✔️ Community-led and culturally responsive curriculum
✔️ Better training, support, and incentives for teachers in IP communities
✔️ Stable and timely funding for IPEd schools
✔️ Stronger mother tongue–based education
✔️ Collaborative governance among DepEd, NCIP, LGUs, and Indigenous leaders
Ultimately, this advocacy calls for an education system that honors Indigenous identity, strengthens cultural heritage, and empowers learners to succeed on their own terms.
📣 Join the conversation.
Support an education that sees, values, and uplifts Indigenous learners—because empowering them means investing in our nation’s shared future.
