This video was edited from a series of scanned 8mm home movies shot in Oakland and Berkeley California during the spring of 1965. It's some of the best footage I've seen from that era. The skating is quite good, especially the downhill sequences. Because the teenagers are filming themselves, they capture a lot of the mischievous spirit of skateboarding that might be associated with later generations. These films are one of a kind, a gift from the Dead Media Hour archive to those who care about such things. If you recognize any of the skaters, send me a note!
