South Korea's northern Gyeonggi Province, including border city of Paju and parts of Seoul, were battered by heavy rain on Thursday. The inundated river flooded nearby farms in Paju, and caused massive damage to crops. Heavy downpour caused suspensions of public transport in the metropolitan area. A heavy rain alert was also issued in Seoul early Thursday. Access to expressways and 29 streams were suspended over safety concerns. According to officials there have been no casualties reported but there have been several cases of damage reported, including fallen trees and flooded homes.
