Nichole: Hello ladies! How are you doing? I'm so excited you're here because I have a really special guest with me today. Her name is Dena Simmons. Actually, we have worked closely together in the past. Now she is now teaching EFT.
If you have ever heard of Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT) or Tapping, it's a powerful way to remove limiting beliefs, or things that are holding you back. It’s something that I am passionate about. I talk with my clients about it all the time.
I don't believe that there is any one thing that works for everybody. If you are a little skeptical because it looks kind of funny, or you might have seen people do it and think it's weird, then just open your mind and give yourself the opportunity to find out if works for you. Because the results can be pretty mind-blowing.
I think a lot of people are a little skeptical at first. I actually invited Dena to a group coaching call with all of my clients. There was a lot of skepticism. A lot of them said, “I can’t believe it - it really worked!”
So today we're going to talk about what EFT is, and how it could potentially help you. Then we will actually go through a tapping session so you can kind of see and feel the results yourself. BUT you have to be open to it, okay? You can't let that skepticism get in the way while we're Tapping.
So Dena, why don't you introduce yourself a little bit and then talk about what EFT is.
Dena: I'm Dean Simmons with Clear Your Path EFT and I'm an EFT coach. I love explaining what EFT is because so many people have heard of it, and have seen it on youtube, but they really don't know how it works.
Have you ever heard the saying, “what you resist, persists?”
EFT addresses it, because and every time we feel stress or anxiety but we resist those feelings, then it persists in our body. Whether it’s in the way we talk, or through our behavior, or it shows up in our relationships, or our feelings.
With EFT, we are able to release that resistance so the feeling or emotion is able to move through our body. The way that we do that is through tapping on special acupressure points on the body. It's really based on acupuncture meridians. It's the same pressure points around our body that helps release those blocks through our energy meridians.
What's really interesting about EFT is that you say outloud how you are feeling while you're tapping.
You start off saying the negative feelings that you're having, so that you're able to honor and acknowledge those feelings, which allows it to move through the meridians. Then you follow up with positive affirmations (while you continue tapping) so that you're able to shift those negative emotions in a more positive direction, towards how you want to feel.
Nichole: Yeah. Okay, I know a lot of the people watching are thinking, “whaaaat, we're going to be tapping our face?” I’m telling you, this works! A big thing that I see in the problems with our society, and what contributes to weight issues, is that we aren't taught how to process our emotions....
