Grønligrotta is one of the largest of the 200 caves in the district of Rana.
The cave is 4100 m and is located by the farm Grønlia, Røvassdalen, Rana, Nordland, Northern Norway.
Geological National Heritage.
The only cave in Scandinavia with lighting inside.
The cave has a network of passages which water and ice have cut and shaped through 700 000 years.
On the route you can see potholes, a subterranian creek, waterfall, forms of marbles and an granite rock which has been transported several km from Sweden by the melting water, the glacier 10,000 years ago in the final phase of the ice age.
The two caves (Grønligrotta og Setergrotta) are actually part of the same system, but it is not possible to get from one cave to the other, but it is the same stream that flows through all the caves, so they belong to the same system. Today, they have a total mapped walking distance of 8700 m.
