Bhairavad fort is located at approx... 180KM from Mumbai near the Shirpunje village in Akole taluka of Ahmednagar district. There are total six Bhiravgads in Maharashtra. This Bhairavgad is of medium grade category trek with the height of 4035ft.
This fort is believed to be ancient and almost 2500 years old and was built keep watch on various routes leading to Harishchandragad.

Bhairoba at one of the cave at the top is the deity of local people here in nearby region, hence it is named as Bhairavgad. Bhairoba is believed to be very powerful which would protect from the evil eyes or the tantra mantra vidya or black magic. Bhairoba is the Kuldaivat for many of the nearby villagers and they climb up to the Bhairoba with barefoot.

The Ghanchakkar peak is also adjacent to Bhiravgad fort. Ghanchakkar peak is the third highest peak of Maharashtra. It is at 4949 ft from sea level

The view of Sahyadri Mountains is magnificent from the top. It was a wonderful experience of trekking through the fog.
The major attractions at the top are Jalkumbh, Caves, Virgals, Bhairoba temple, Lord Vetal & the beautiful views of Sahyadri mountain range.
