DISC profile explained by author Thomas Erikson

Описание: What personality type are you? And have you ever considered how we can utilise personality profiles to help us in business and sales?

A few years ago, I stumbled on a book called ’Surrounded By Idiots’ by Thomas Erikson. The book outlines the four personality types first theorised by the (late) great psychologist William Moulton Marston in 1928. These personality types are the possible outcomes of a behavioural self-assessment tool called DISC, which stands for:

Dominance (RED): active use of force to overcome resistance in the environment
Inducement (YELLOW): use of charm in order to deal with obstacles
Submission (GREEN): warm and voluntary acceptance of the need to fulfill a request
Compliance (BLUE): fearful adjustment to a superior force

Of course, the actual description of each trait is far more detailed than these short summaries - detailed enough, in fact, for Thomas to write his fascinating, insightful, and hugely compelling book.

The book helps us all to reflect on our own personality traits with a view to becoming a more-rounded individual - but it also helps us to better understand others and adapt our own behaviours so that we might better communicate, influence, and convince them of our own ideas.

For someone (me) who is obsessed with pitching, it’s a must-read; it will dramatically increase your odds of making your next sale.
