Difference Makers: Children's One Medical Flight Team

Описание: The Children’s One Emergency Transport team may serve nine states and include nurses, respiratory therapists, EMTs and specialized flight crew, but when they are saving lives, they work as one. And they share a bond unlike any other.

“My most important piece is my partner,” says Claire, RN, a flight nurse on the Children’s One helicopter. “I couldn’t do what we do for this team without the other piece of me.”

What makes this team different is that each member specializes in their own area of expertise but is also cross-trained to assist in any situation. Whether a child needs help with breathing or not, respiratory therapist Kelly is equipped with the skills to be an interchangeable part of the team.

“As respiratory therapists it’s awesome because I get to give medication and do a lot of procedures that we wouldn’t necessarily do at the bedside,” Kelly says.

In this critical role, the Children’s One team leans on one another, even in the most rural locations, to make a difference.

“This is a very heavy job, and there are days where it’s harder than others,” Claire says. “But we lean on each other, and we do know that we’re making a big difference in kids’ lives.”
