Clayton Johns (1857-1932) was an American composer. His most popular work was the "Introduction and Fugue for Piano" (1899). He also wrote other instrumental works and about 100 songs.This melody is notated for three voices, the time signature is 6/8 and the refrain is in the key of E- Major, while the verses are in the key of G Major. I had to choose a lower key to be able to sing it comfortably, so I ended up with the verses in C Major and the refrain in A Major.

Maria Louise Baum (1867-1941) was an early journalist for "The Christian Science Monitor" and is probably best known for writing the words to seven Christian Science hymns.
