Dr. Nirvani Umadat is a dental surgeon, healthcare entrepreneur, and biotechnologist. She is the co-owner and founder of Ascent Dental Care where her practice focuses on the application of digital dentistry to restorative care. Dr. Nirvani has spent the last ten years providing volunteer dental care to remote communities around the world. In 2016, with the collaboration of her team members, she developed an application to improve access to hospital care in South America. She continues her involvement in clinical research, including studies of the oral microbiome. Nirvani is also a Project PoSSUM Citizen-Scientist Astronaut Candidate and has been honoured as one of "Canada's Top 100 Most Powerful Women".
