Sarnaism, practiced by tribes like the Munda, Ho, Santali, and Kurukh, emphasizes nature worship. In 2020, the Jharkhand government unanimously passed a resolution to include Sarna as a distinct religion, gaining bipartisan support.

Currently, only six religions in India are officially recognized in the census.
