Fall Foliage Tower Hikes in Northwest Connecticut

Описание: Tis the season for enjoying the views - and what better way to do that than from a beautiful tower!

Connecticut has some gorgeous hikes but my favorite always include a lookout - and the best lookouts come from atop a tower!

I have put together hikes that take you to some of the most breathtaking vistas in Connecticut!

First up - one of the oldest parks in Connecticut as well as one of the most stunning, sweeping views:

Mount Tom State Park
Route 202 (just navigate to it)
Litchfield, Ct

It will take you about an hour to get to the tower on this moderately challenging trail. You can see Mount Everett. -the highest peak in the south Taconics of Massachusetts, the Catskills of New York, and Long Island Sound!

In season you can swim in the pond and picnic and hike this park!

2. Camp Columbia State Park
West Street
Morris, CT

This 600 acre site was once a campus of Columbia University's Engineering Department. It is now a state park offering hiking, biking, skiing, picnicing and the lake.

The hike to the tower is short and sweet. A very easy walk that takes you past an old building. This tower has the stairs wind around the outside of the tower - so for someone like me with height issues - it can be tense to get to the top - but when you do!!! It's a pretty view! It will take you about 20 minutes to get to the tower on this trail.

3. Last but certainly not least Haystack Mountain Tower

This hike is a bit more taxing and not too long but will payoff with the most incredible vistas!
The 34 foot high tower offers views of the Berkshires and the Green Mountains of Vermont.
This mountain and tower is one of the best views for fall foliage we have found!
