A 10-minute fixed-frame observation of the sacred morning rituals on the Godavari ghats in Nashik.
The Shiva Lingam and the Bull (Nandi) are timeless markers of the union between stillness and energy. Representing the formless nature of the universe, the Lingam sits within the Yoni, symbolizing the fundamental balance of all creation, the union of masculine and feminine energies.
The ritual of Abhisheka. People pour water over the Lingam to cool the "heat" of Shiva’s intense cosmic energy, a gesture that symbolizes the cleansing of the soul. While Nandi the bull sits patiently, watching the stillness of the Lingam.
Around this sacred centre, the common current of Nashik life flows as a mix of the divine and the quotidian.
