Colonies of bar-tailed godwits, known as the champions in terms of their cruising capability, were spotted among the tens of thousands of migratory birds seeking food in the mouth of the Yalu River in northeast China on Friday.
The bar-tailed godwits are well known for their non-stop fly during their long journey of migration.
A bar-tailed godwit may fly more than 10,000 kilometers for around seven consecutive days and nights.
The wetland on the mouth of the Yalu River in the city of Dandong in Liaoning Province is a stop for migratory birds, including the bar-tailed godwits, to recover from their tough journey.
Experts say as many as 40 kinds of birds may be seen in the area and the number of migratory birds arriving there has reached around 500,000 since the beginning of April.
