Описание: Valle Maggia (English, "Maggia Valley") is an alpine valley in the Vallemaggia district of canton of Ticino, the Italian-speaking canton of Switzerland. The valley is formed by the river Maggia and is situated between the Centovalli and Lago Maggiore as well as the Valle Verzasca in the East.
There are four main areas of the Vallemaggia, each with its own characteristics and particular charm: the Bassa Valle, the Rovana, the Bavona and the Lavizzara. The relief is the result of an extraordinary glacial erosion that has carved the valley accentuating the slope of the slopes; in some places these are formed by rocky walls that rise vertically for hundreds of meters. For long stretches the valley floor is entirely occupied by the river that wanders, always looking for new paths among alluvial materials, surprisingly colonized by a luxuriant spontaneous vegetation. The resulting landscape, although unproductive, is of extraordinary charm.
Today, Vallemaggia presents two aspects of particular interest: the suggestive natural environment and the countless traces of the centuries-old, incessant work of man. For all its characteristics, past and present, Vallemaggia offers the interested and attentive visitor numerous possibilities to discover a rich natural and human heritage.
