Inflammation and fertility have an important connection. On one hand - acute inflammation is essential to ovualtion and implantation. But chronic inflammation (the constant activation of the immune system) is ctually toxic and on the disease pathway for many diseases which are linked with infertility, including autoimmune disease.
FUN FACT: this was actually a question on my REI oral boards, that’s right - I was talking about chronic inflammation and the harm on your fertility even back in 2018 (You can’t take your oral boards until you have been in practice for a couple years and submit a case list to review with the examiners. And...the current CEO of was one of my oral board examiners!)
If you’re trying to conceive and have an autoimmune condition (like lupus, Hashimoto’s, IBD, celiac, etc.), you’re not alone—and your fertility journey might look a little different.
Autoimmune diseases can impact:
-Ovarian reserve
-Ovulation & hormone production
-Egg quality
-Uterine environment
-Risk of miscarriage
-How your immune system responds to a pregnancy
If you have an autoimmune diagnosis and are TTC (or thinking about it), make sure to bring this up to your doctor early and consider earlier testing (especially for ovarian reserve). Stop yout birth control with enough time to see if you ovulate on your own. Your body deserves a tailored plan.
Chapter 1 of The Fertility Formula is all about inflammation and the impact on fertility (including autoimmune disease). That’s right - Chapter 1! It is that important. Don’t forget to preorder now to get your exclusive pre order bonuses, including the hormone reset and IVF guide. XO
