Traders in Kampala's Central Business District are counting losses after their property was destroyed by floods triggered by the morning’s heavy downpour. Many were seen breaking down in tears after finding their shops inundated. The traders blame the waterlogging on the ongoing construction of shops on top of the Nakivubo Channel, arguing that runoff from several buildings no longer flows into the channel because the contractor blocked it.
