Mergers and acquisitions are back in the spotlight, with a few deals hitting the headlines over the past week. While insurers Momentum and Metropolitan have been given the green light to merge their operations, the competition authorities say it can't be at the expense of jobs. On Friday, HSBC walked away from a potential takeover of Nedbank. So why are some of these deals failing and are we still likely to see growth in M&A activity?
