Can you beat Fallout 4’s Far Harbor DLC on Survival difficulty as a pacifist?
In this livestream, Nora pushes a no-kills run into the fog using rarely seen perks like Animal Friend, Wasteland Whisperer, Intimidation, and Robotics Expert—manipulating creatures, enemies, and machines instead of pulling the trigger. Far Harbor quickly exposes just how unreliable (and occasionally hilarious) pacifism really is in Fallout 4, especially when paired with Survival mode and the game’s least-loved weapon: the Syringer, with ammo that’s painfully scarce.
☮️ Pacifist Run Rules (What Counts as a Kill?)
For this run, a “kill” is any action where I directly cause a non-essential character’s health to drop to zero using a weapon or damaging effect. Any kills made by active companions also count as my own, including any kills Nick Valentine makes during the quest Unlikely Valentine while he is a forced companion.
Kills do not count if enemies die to mines I did not place, enemies kill each other, or neutral NPCs (such as settlers or Diamond City guards) eliminate hostiles. Using Berserk Syringes to make enemies fight each other is allowed, as those kills are not attributed to the player. Any damage or kills caused by dismissed companions also do not count toward the total.
Early progression in a pacifist run is brutally slow. XP is scarce, combat is unavoidable, and perks like Wasteland Whisperer and Intimidation - which claim a 40% success rate - fail far more often than expected, turning routine encounters into survival puzzles.
☮️ Early Takeaway:
One of the hardest moments comes during Saving Nick Valentine. Because Nick is a forced companion, any kills he makes count against the run, making pacification of the Triggermen all but mandatory. Between repeated pacify failures, limited syringer ammo, and unpredictable AI behavior, this section became an endurance test.
At the end of the quest, Nick was downed and glitched into a permanent incapacitated state, forcing an improvised solution using Fallout 4’s object-physics exploit - physically pushing him to trigger a recovery.
☮️ This stream focuses on:
Early-game pacifist setup on Survival
Speech checks, intimidation, and enemy manipulation
Broken or unreliable pacifist mechanics
Fallout 4 AI and physics doing Fallout 4 things
If you’re interested in challenge runs, broken mechanics, and problem-solving when the game refuses to cooperate, this run only gets harder from here. Kellogg should be a complete nightmare!
No mods. No console commands. Just Fallout 4’s systems pushed to their limits.
If you enjoy Fallout 4 challenge runs, rare mechanics, creative problem solving, and unconventional playstyles, this series explores how far pacifism can really go in the Commonwealth.
