In this Talk, Brother Mack speaks of the Beauty of King David's family [Mishpaha shael Dawid Melek]. Beauty runs strong and deep in this household, truth is it did not do them Any Good (in fact, it did nothing for them, its just an exterior), although they are beautiful outwardly (words of Mozell mack). However Jehovah God had graciously welcomed the crippled Young Prince Mephibosheth to dine at the table of a King (the background wallpaper Yours Truly had used is one of the dishes served in Traditional, Africa & Middle East cuisines, what Mephibosheth would have enjoyed eating with David).
The table is sat full of Prince and Princesses, so when Mephibosheth looks up and see how handsome Abshalom is, and how strong and powerful David's nephew Abishai (son of Zeruyah) and Jo'ab are, Mephibosheth felt bad about himself (when he sees his own crippled and lame feet, an early childhood injury that cost him his growth, his height, and maimed him for life). David reminded him that all are welcome at God's table to eat.
PS: Listening to talk many times (this talk is my personal copy gifted to me by a friend many many years ago), I had always seen Mephibosheth as the Handsome One, not Abshalom. Mephibosheth is a True Prince and despite growing up in Lodebar, the fire of God ~ the faith, it still burned in him. Instead of becoming a complainer in his life, Mephibosheth made the best of his situation, he has always hoped in God. So much so even despite false accusations used against him (and ugly rumours spread about him being an apostate and a traitor, by Ziba and many others, sneering and speaking abusively of him), Mephibosheth let his Heart speak for him. Jehovah have Mephibosheth's words recorded in the Bible as an example of His (Honesty) Beautiful Heart. Growing up in a poor neighbour (Lodebar) is not what determines a person. Its the character of this man that stands out as attractive, and Mephibosheth is content despite his situation, he does not harbour the slightest envy toward others who enjoy blessings that he does not have (this is a man that relies on God, not his own feelings or depression. He trusted God despite men's failure). Many of God's people lived in difficult situation, and they have successfully overcome their trials, self doubt, managed their anxieties, and conquered great obstacles with Jehovah's help (such as Judge Barak, the godly woman Ruth, Joshua, Ebed Melech, Prophet Ahijah, Prophet Samuel, the Samaritan Leper, so many)
Yours Truly would like to add this Very Important note: Mephibosheth is a very Handsome Man, if it wasn't for the tragic disability, he would probably have stood at his full height of 6'1" (1.85 metres). Because his grandfather, King Saul is very tall. The real advantage Mephibosheth has is Spiritual qualities on his heart: He is honest, kind, humble, Bold not afraid to speak the Truth, and he conveys his words with strength and acts with a Noble Heart (not just being born of Nobility; Abshalom is born of Nobility but acts like an uncultured hooligan and renegade rebel (bullying many people in the kingdom, telling lies, and raping many women). Three of King David's sons are Ambitious Rebels (Amnon, Abshalom, Adonijah), and Solomon eventually also turns against Jehovah (apostasy due to listening to his many wives). But Mephibosheth stayed faithful & True despite his challenging circumstances. The contrast between Abshalom and Mephibosheth is just huge). Beauty & Faith, has to come from Inside, the Heart. The Private person God sees, and the Secret Person God sees when examining us each day in our home and when He examines our heart.
