The media is currently obsessing over a child care fraud case, but the framing is doing something much more sinister. Instead of focusing on individual bad actors, the rhetoric is being used to indict an entire ethnic and religious community.
The Historical Parallel:
History shows us that the road to state-sponsored violence is paved with the "criminality" narrative. Adolph H. and the NotSee party used isolated crimes (and fabricated ones) to label Jewish and Romani people as "economic parasites" and "cheats." This dehumanization primed the public to accept their removal from society.
