This can be problematic with an increased risk of adverse drug reactions, interactions, medication non-adherence as well as cost issues. Medication review has been shown to improve the quality of prescribing, this is a key role for PCN pharmacists.

This free to access webinar hosted by Yellow Card Centre West Midlands director Professor Jamie Coleman will focus on how medication review can improve quality of prescribing, reduce adverse drug reactions and drug interactions through deprescribing interventions and ensuring appropriate polypharmacy. This event is aimed at PCN pharmacists, primary care pharmacists and anyone who is involved in medication review.

About the speaker

Jamie Coleman is Professor of Clinical Pharmacology and Medical Education within the

School of Medicine in the Institute of Clinical Sciences and the director of Yellow Card Centre West Midlands. Jamie works as a Consultant Physician at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Birmingham with acute and general internal medicine responsibilities. Jamie is also an Associate Medical Director for Medicines Management at University Hospital Birmingham NHS Foundation Trust. He represents the Trust on the Birmingham, Sandwell, Solihull and environs Area Prescribing Committee and is a Clinical Pharmacologist member of the Regional Medicines Optimisation Committee.

Jamie chairs the Cardiovascular Diabetes Respiratory Renal and Allergy Expert Advisory Group of the MHRA and is a Commissioner of Human Medicines for the Licensing Body.
