Around 1830, this automatic glockenspiel was made by several clockmakers from the Black Forest and Scandinavian Germany.
The cylinder is made of wood and fitted with numerous metal pins, which drive eighteen wooden hammers.
A 3-kilogram weight,
suspended by a rope, powers the wooden cylinder, with its speed regulated by a governor mechanism.
The wooden hammers can be finely adjusted by screwing them in or out.
Nine different melodies can be manually selected and played.
