MSC ELSA 3 sinks: Coastal alert issued in Kerala

Описание: The MSC ELSA 3 has sunk in the Arabian Sea, prompting a high-level coastal alert in Kerala's Alappuzha district. Around 50 containers reportedly fell into the sea, with fears that some may contain hazardous materials.

The Kerala State Disaster Management Authority has warned the public to stay at least 200 metres away from any suspicious objects or washed-up containers. Citizens are urged not to touch or approach these items and to report sightings by calling 112.

A high-level meeting chaired by the Chief Secretary will assess cleanup efforts, but officials admit there's no current system to retrieve sunken containers. Public gatherings near affected areas are strictly prohibited
