Prayers Against To Scatter Unjust Enemies: Psalms 35, 37, 55, 58, 109, 137
Almighty God, we come before You in the name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior. We seek Your protection and deliverance from the unjust enemies who rise against us. Your Word assures us that You are our shield and defender, and we trust in Your mighty power to scatter those who plot against us without cause.
Lord, we echo the words of Psalm 35:1-3, "Contend, O Lord, with those who contend with us; fight against those who fight against us. Take up shield and armor; arise and come to our aid. Brandish spear and javelin against those who pursue us. Say to our souls, 'I am your salvation.'” Father, arise and fight for us. Stand against those who unjustly accuse and attack us. Be our salvation and deliverance.
In Psalm 37:1-2, we are reminded, "Do not fret because of evildoers, nor be envious of the workers of iniquity. For they shall soon be cut down like the grass, and wither as the green herb." Lord, we trust in Your justice and timing. Though the wicked may seem to prosper temporarily, we know that their end is destruction. Help us to rest in Your promises and not be anxious about the schemes of the unrighteous.
Lord, we bring before You the burdens of betrayal and treachery, as expressed in Psalm 55:12-14, "For it is not an enemy who reproaches me; then I could bear it. Nor is it one who hates me who has exalted himself against me; then I could hide from him. But it was you, a man my equal, my companion and my acquaintance. We took sweet counsel together and walked to the house of God in the throng." Father, heal the wounds of betrayal we have experienced from those close to us. Restore our hearts and give us the strength to forgive, even as You scatter the plans of those who have turned against us.
As we meditate on Psalm 58:6-8, we cry out, "Break the teeth in their mouths, O God; Lord, tear out the fangs of those lions! Let them vanish like water that flows away; when they draw the bow, let their arrows fall short. May they be like a slug that melts away as it moves along, like a stillborn child that never sees the sun." Lord, dismantle the weapons formed against us. Let the plans of the wicked dissolve and become ineffective. Silence the mouths that speak lies and deceit against us.
Psalm 109:2-4 says, "For the mouth of the wicked and the mouth of the deceitful are opened against me; they have spoken against me with a lying tongue. They have also surrounded me with words of hatred, and fought against me without a cause. In return for my love, they are my accusers, but I give myself to prayer." Lord, we commit ourselves to prayer, trusting that You will vindicate us. Silence the voices of slander and accusation. Turn the curses of our enemies into blessings.
In Psalm 137:7-9, we remember, "Remember, O Lord, against the Edomites the day of Jerusalem, who said, 'Lay it bare, lay it bare, down to its foundations!' O daughter of Babylon, doomed to destruction, blessed shall he be who repays you with what you have done to us! Blessed shall he be who takes your little ones and dashes them against the rock!"
Psalm 37:39-40 reassures us, "But the salvation of the righteous is from the Lord; He is their strength in the time of trouble. And the Lord shall help them and deliver them; He shall deliver them from the wicked, and save them, because they trust in Him." Lord, You are our strength in times of trouble. We trust in Your deliverance. Save us from the hands of the wicked and uphold us with Your righteous right hand.
In Psalm 55:16-18, we find comfort, "As for me, I will call upon God, and the Lord shall save me. Evening and morning and at noon I will pray, and cry aloud, and He shall hear my voice. He has redeemed my soul in peace from the battle that was against me, for there were many against me." Lord, we call upon You continuously. Hear our cries and bring peace to our souls amidst the battles we face. Redeem us and grant us victory over our enemies.
Psalm 137:3-4 reminds us, "For there our captors asked us for songs, our tormentors demanded songs of joy; they said, 'Sing us one of the songs of Zion!' How can we sing the songs of the Lord while in a foreign land?" Lord, even in our distress, we refuse to forget You. Though we may be in a place of suffering and oppression, our hearts remain steadfast in You. Restore our joy and enable us to sing Your praises even in difficult circumstances.
In conclusion, we declare Psalm 37:23-24 over our lives, "The steps of a good man are ordered by the Lord, and He delights in his way. Though he fall, he shall not be utterly cast down; for the Lord upholds him with His hand." Lord, guide our steps and delight in our ways. Even if we stumble, we trust that You will uphold us. Scatter our unjust enemies and establish us in Your righteousness. We give You all the glory, honor, and praise for the victory that is ours through Christ Jesus.
Amen.
