A picture is worth a thousand words. What does that mean?
It means pictures are far more useful than words sometimes.
Some people learn by reading. Most people learn better by seeing. It’s why I have a YouTube channel.
Even though I read all the time, there are some subjects that are hard for me to learn just by reading. You can tell me how to do something ten times and I won’t learn. However, if you show me, through pictures - or through doing something with me - I’ll learn.
Also, sometimes the biggest news stories are remembered not for their words, but for their pictures.
Tiennanman Square, The fall of the Berlin Wall, 9/11. We usually see pictures, not words, when we think of these things.
This is why a picture is worth much more than words. And this idiom shows that a picture is worth 1000 words.
