"It Is Well With My Soul" has a deep and personal meaning to me. I rediscovered a deep connection and appreciation for this song when my wonderful Dad passed away in 2000 from cancer. Ever sin I wanted to arrange this song for his celebration of life (funeral). I feel like my Dad embodied the message with the way he lived and talked about his faith. I've learned that being able to say the phrase, "It is Well With My Soul" is much more powerful than I knew. It's especially powerful when everything appears to not be well. It's more than pretending to be happy, it's more than wishful and hopeful thinking. It is the mature, experienced outcome of choosing to believe in God's love thousands of times over your lifetime. My Dad exemplified this - and I will forever thank him for teaching me the power of that perspective.
The video footage was taken by my talented and adventurous brother, Brent. He climbs to the top of unspeakably beautiful places and captures that beauty with his cameras. It conveys exactly how I feel about the song's message. It's peaceful and pushes my thoughts to higher, holier things.
