Our history spans from 1850 with Irish/German immigrants who eventually constructed a "Shanty Church" built of lumber from trees cut a couple blocks away. Today on the same location, we worship in a glorious basilica. In between that time, the first Franciscan friars to come to this region of the United States built a proper wood church and christened her, Saint Mary of the Angels.
