An awesome ATV ride in Garden Canyon on Ft. Huachuca!

Описание: I've hiked around in Garden Canyon quite a bit, but this adventure with Deb was something else! She took us to Upper Garden Canyon, Sawmill Canyon, McClure Canyon and more, all in a few hours. She knows these back roads really well, and the ride gave me a better overall understanding of the geography of the canyon (and it was a blast!). I hope it does the same for you.

By the end of the ride I felt like:
"I've been everywhere, man. I've been everywhere, man.
Crossed the desert bare, man. I've breathed the mountain air, man.
Of travel I've had my share, man. I've been everywhere."

I always thought "I've Been Everywhere" was a Johnny Cash original, but actually it was written in 1959 by Geoff Mack, an Australian who later rewrote the lyrics to account for different locations, including North America. Hank Snow sang it in 1962, and Johnny Cash recorded his version in 1996. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/I%27ve_... DIRECTIONS: It's easiest just to do search on Google Maps for Garden Canyon Road on Fort Huachuca. Follow the paved road to the third and last picnic area. The pavement ends there and a dirt road continues another three miles up to the Sawmill/Upper Garden Canyon split (see the 1:20 point in the video). In May I made it to this split in my Subaru. In August after heavy monsoon rains there's no way I would have driven my car up there. I imagine it's pretty tricky to be hauled out by a tow truck. An ATV or high clearance Jeep or truck is your best bet.

If you don’t have a military or DoD i.d. card you’ll have to stop at the office by the main entry gate and get a day pass to enter the post. Do a quick search online for the documentation you’ll need in order to get a pass. A helmet, gloves, and long sleeves and pants are required when you're in an ATV.
