Killer whales are highly intelligent animals. Unfortunately the pet trade has domesticated or get it or enslaved many of these animals these animals these animals are known for their long ranges and don't do well inside of small enclosures. Kiska is the last captive orca to be held in a canadian facility in Marineland, Ontario.
Kiska was captured almost 40 years ago off the coast of Iceland and is currently living alone in Marineland. The negative developmental effects of orcas in capacity have lead to a deterioration in their mental and physical well being. Captivity has left these animals without the skills they need to survive in the open ocean. By taking action and placing Kiska into an appropriate facility, such as a whale sanctuary, she can begin to acclimate to the wild and live a more natural and healthy life.
