In this video, Dr. Berg talks about fasting, BDNF or Brain-Derived Neurotrophic Factor, and the hippocampus.

Fasting increases something called neuroplasticity, which gets the nerves communication. It is healthy for the brain to have brain cell communication and fasting has the ability to get your cells to start communicating again.

Signs of Decreased in BDNF
• Neurodegeneration
• Diabetes
• Increase Inflammation
• Increase LDL
• Worsen MS (an autoimmune disorder)

Fasting Benefits:
1. It has the ability to get your cells to start communicating again.
2. It increases neurogenesis (the making of new neurons).
3. Repair DNA of neurons

Things to Do to Increase BDNF:
• Intermittent Fasting
• Aerobic
• Exercise
• Vitamin D
• Omega 3
• Healthy Ketogenic Diet
• Decrease Calories

The combination of having your neurons communicate and listen better, making more neurons, and repairing DNA mainly occur in the structure called the hippocampus of the brain.
